Halloween Service 2016

Special Service

Service has been added again this year for the weekend of the annual Athens Halloween block party on Court St. Buses will be running a continuous loop, with stops at Athens County Fairgrounds parking, Uptown near BW3 restaurant, and Richland & West Green Drive. The added service will run 5pm – 2:30am on Friday and 3pm – 2:30am Saturday (the night of the official Athens Halloween Uptown). Standard $1 fare applies; Bobcat Pass will be valid.

Halloween Weekend parking is available at the Athens County Fairgrounds. Gates open at 11 am Friday, October 28 and will remain open all weekend. The cost is for the entire weekend (Friday – Sunday), and the fee is $10. Security will be on the grounds. Parking areas will be well lit with a shuttle from your car to the buses. Port-a-johns will be on the grounds. Proceeds benefit the Junior Fair Program. No advance sales please. The Athens County Fairgrounds may be contacted via e-mail at fairdays@frontier.com or by calling 740-594-2771. Track the parking loop buses live on Doublemap.

Transport from/to Lodging

Regular APT service will be running Friday and Saturday, providing connections uptown from area hotels until 10pm both nights – to view specific stop locations and times for the hotel you book, click here. For late night service back to hotels, please contact one of Athens’ fine cab services, including Athens Green Cab (740-594-7336), Tabs Taxi (740-594-8294) and Athens GoTo Cab (740-590-4686).

Check the parking shuttle service map on Google Maps.

Two detours will affect regular bus lines. Court Street will be closed all Saturday for the block party setup, and a temporary outbound stop at The First United Methodist Church across from the City Parking Garage at College and Washington will be set up to give travelers on the 2, 3, 5, and 6 convenient uptown access. Inbound stops on Carpenter and Congress will remain open. The 4 will detour to Elliot Street, missing the regular stop pair at Palmer/Stimson.

Summit Service

A modified Summit Night Owl Loop will be in operation Saturday night starting at 7:30pm, with a primary stop at Richland/President. Two buses will be operating continuous service on the loop – just check Doublemap for the next one!
