Bus Fares & Passes

In fall 2013, APT decreased standard fare from $1.50 to $1.00. The fare is paid when you board the bus and is good for a one-way trip with free connections. Drivers do not carry change, so please have exact fare ready.

Fares for people 65 and older or with disabilities are 50% subsidized by the Ohio State Elderly and Disabled (E&D) fare assistance program. They have dropped from $0.75 to $0.50. Proof of age or disability is required for initial discount fare qualification. For more information, vist our Eligibility Requirements page.

We also sell 30-ride punchcard tickets on the bus for $25, and a variety of unlimited ride time-based passes. The unlimited passes are sold at the Athens Mayor’s Office in City Hall, 8 E Washington Street in uptown Athens, across from the Parking Garage and Chase Bank. – bring cash or check and a photo ID to the Utilities Billing Window to get yours.

Unlimited-Ride Passes represent our deepest discounts, so keep them in mind if you plan to ride regularly. They are:

60 Day Pass (2 months) – $40 regular, $20 E&D

120 Day Pass (4 months, covers a full Ohio U. semester) – $80 regular, $40 E&D

365 Day Pass (1 full year) – $140 regular, $70 E&D. A one-year pass used to be $160!

We also offer two unlimited youth passes for young people ages 17 and under. The 4-month pass is $15, while the 1-year pass is $40. Children ages 10 and under ride free with an accompanying adult!

Our newest ticket and pass category is our Day Pass which is $3 regular, $1.50 E&D. Day passes are sold on the bus and are good for unlimited rides on the date they are purchased.

Finally, we now have the Bobcat Pass program, which offers free service to Ohio University students, faculty and staff when they show their valid Ohio University ID card. More on Bobcat Pass here.
